Coral’s Fall 2011 Photo shoot

Here’s a sneak peak of some raw images from Coral’s photo shoot today.  She is always one of my favorite subjects to photograph.  Partially because she’s my niece and partially because she’s a TOTAL ham.

My Adorable Niece

Best part of photographing a 3 year old?  Inherent cuteness, no posing required, and LOTS of exercise.

goodnight,
p.w.m.

There’s no place like home.

It’s true, sometimes there’s just no place like home.

Girls night with my Grandma.

Herb roasted SQUASH!

Free laundry, by the car load.

Cute puppies.

Homemade apple pie with ice cream.

Fresh vegetables from the garden.

Annoying little sisters, jk..

Tomorrow I’m taking fall pics of my older niece, Coral. and nephew, Alex.  Can’t wait to get the kids outside and have some fun in the leaves.

ctrl + alt + huh?

I realize I have been slacking on the blog front, so tonight I decided to dedicate part of my evening to playing catch up.  Of course, my computer would choose tonight to run slower than molasses, not load my pictures and corrupt my external.  Argh, argh, argh.

I know it’s been about 192 days since my last restart, but come on little HP!  Don’t fail me now!!

wish me luck…

Oh, Brother!

and Ohhhh Singer!

What an amazing day, I was just gifted two sewing machines!  One is a 50 year-old Singer Slant-O Matic and the other is a practically brand-new Brother.

*sigh* beautiful, aren’t they?

I am so excited!  The two machines together have all the bells and whistles a girl could ever wish for.  Can I say, free arm, ruffle foot, double needles, blind hems, and 59 other stitches!  I don’t even know what cording is, but I already know I love it!  Oh, am I ever swooning.

A big big thank you to three very wonderful women.  Lu, Sandy and Carol, I really can’t thank you enough!!

Let the crafting begin 🙂

The Fire Goddess

Or…  My friend, Emily.

Impressive, right?

How to Make A Huge #$$ Fire

  • 1 friend named Emily, preferably with backyard and fire bowl
  • 1 severely dried out Christmas tree
  • 1 match

     The rest is history.

Last night’s bonfire came with some interesting lessons.

Apparently it is true that Christmas trees are a major fire hazard.  The air gaps between the needles and the sap in the tree make for a near perfect fuel combination.  According to the National Fire Association, Christmas trees account for 250 fires annually and more than $13.8 million in property damage.  Yikes!

I also learned that Fire Season in Minnesota is very different from Fire Season in California…

Minnesota – Bonfires, s’mores, creative dinners and improv jam sessions.

California – Forest fires, house fires, and ash raining from the sky.

I think if I ever awoke to find my car covered in ash, I would instantly assume that we are living in the End Times, ahhh!

2011 Mill City Suds Run

Up until 8:30 this morning, I wasn’t sure if I was actually going to be participating in this year’s event.  Come oonnnnnnnn, I was up late with my parents last night!

Luckily the dynamic duo – JuLeo gave me a 30 minute warning and a hefty dose of peer pressure.

Before I knew it, Officer Moments was dressed and ready for action.

All right folks, nothing to see here!  That’s right, move along.

The rest of the Party Posse

The run was incredibly fun just as I expected.  A 5k seems so much shorter when you are returning fire to some ostrich riding cowboys – who think they are better just because their guns are bigger, having a conversation with a man about coconut chaffing… and cheering on good ol’ Charlie Brown.  I think some of the best costumes I saw were a group of life-size tetris pieces, some gored Spaniards and their inflata-bull and a bunch of obnoxious fairies beating the crap out of people with their butterfly wands.   It was the best 3.1 miles I’ve run in a loooong time!

I am not exactly sure how I did since it was just a fun run/unofficial race.  But my best guestimate is somewhere in the ball park of 29 minutes.  Which is AWESOME, because I have only run a handful of times all Summer.  Take that, H. Pylori!

Afterward, the Party Posse and I headed out to a legit lunch at Tuggs, since the picnic ended up being a bust.  It was a nice way to end the afternoon…

Here is Buggsy showing The Dude some brotherly love.

“Hey man, let me clip those bangs out of your face for you.”

And lastly, proof that Julia was actually there.  She didn’t run since she was feeling a little under the weather.

Happy Saturday!

Backlogged

So many posts, so little time!

I just wanted to let all of my two three adoring fans know that I haven’t forgot about you guys.  I’m a little ashamed to admit that I haven’t just been neglecting this blog…  I downright ABANDONED it so I could slip off to a little vacay.  🙂

No worries, there are quite a few posts currently in the making.  Cooking, Sewing, and of course, infamous Cell Phone Photography shots from my recent trip.

Until then, please enjoy this picture of a beaver and pretend that he’s wearing a hard hat and not a hamburger bun on his head.  *sigh*  I tried…
